TV Guy Chronicles: LOST

by Jason Rossi 21. January 2009 11:39

Since the calendar turned to 2009, television has been a good friend to you, don’t you think? Think about this, last years writer strike only gave about 8 new episodes at this point favorite shows … unless you’re a big American Idol fan because it would take a cataclysmic event to stop that show…... or Paula Abdul.  Fan favorite 24 didn’t even get one episode in .. (as Jack Bauer would say…. Damnit!) That is in the past and now my DVR is loaded with shows like 24, Nip/Tuck, Chuck, Scrubs, CSI, and yes…. American Idol. Tonight marks the date that I have had circled on my calendar since November … LOST returns with a 3 hour event tonight.

LOST, one of the most talked about shows in recent history, comes back for its 5th season and there are answers on the horizon. If you’re as big a LOST fan as I am you have been anticipating this day like a child waiting for Christmas. Here are a few things the producers have told us to expect this season:

Season 5 will have at least 16 episodesClaire will not be in this season, but will return for the final season

The Oceanic Six will attempt to get back to the island, but others must go with them…

We will learn about Danielle Rousseau’s past

We will see at least 6 dead characters return

At least one character will be killed this season

We will learn the fate of those on the freighter that exploded in the finale

Locke will not be in the first handful of episodes

OOOO and most important many mysteries will finally be revealed…

Take that list with a grain of salt because the producers of this show are as mysterious as the show itself.

LOST has always used music intelligently in the show. Mama Cass’s “Make Your Own Kind of Music” in the season 2 premiere when we learned what was in the mysterious hatch.

Petula Clark’s “Downtown” in season 3 premiere in the scene where we saw the plane crash…

They also used Radio 929 favorite Nirvana’s “Scentless Apprentice” when we learned about the flash forwards

Now heading into season 5 they are using music to  promote the show using The Fray’s “You Found Me”

We are just a few hours away from seeing what I am sure will be water cooler talk for the next week.

 Namaste

Rock Quote of the Day

I really haven't had that exciting of a life. There are a lot of things I wish I would have done, instead of just sitting around and complaining about having a boring life. So I pretty much like to make it up. I'd rather tell a story about somebody else. - Kurt Cobain
