How The Mighty Have Fallen

by Jason Rossi 28. September 2009 13:57

It was the late 80's and the never talked about Seattle music busted out like a fat guy's gut taking off under armor.

The scene was entitle “grunge” and these young dirty rockers where singing about there a wanting to be free, acceptance, & overall hate towards life.

Bands that you know and love that came out of the scene were,Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, & Soundgarden. There were numerous other small bands that had some main stream success, but they never stuck.... neither did “grunge”

As the years pasted and bands like Nirvana and Alice in Chains stopped making records, the grunge scene faded. I don't know if artist took happy pills or if it was the British invasion of the late 90s, but  grunge records were heard less and less in the mainstream.  Then the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley really put in end to the era for good.

Now a days Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam are releasing Rock albums leaving their grunge roots behind.
Backspacer the latest from Pearl Jam is a 34 minute straight forward rock album with a rather radio friendly tracks front to back.

So next time you have a cold one pour some out for our fallen grunge friends.

Rock Quote of the Day

I really haven't had that exciting of a life. There are a lot of things I wish I would have done, instead of just sitting around and complaining about having a boring life. So I pretty much like to make it up. I'd rather tell a story about somebody else. - Kurt Cobain
