Super Weekend!

by Jason Rossi 5. February 2010 12:03

With the Superbowl weekend upon us I've been researching and researching, and researching (did I mention researching?) the game between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts.
The key factor of this game:

Peyton Manning's Superbowl Experience:
Peyton has been here before (literally). Peyon won Superbowl XXXXI and it that was also in Miami. Also Manning played well in the rain in the “BIG game”

Drew Brees's mental toughness:
Drew Brees needs to play like its any other game. He cant play alla Carson Palmer in the playoffs this year. Brees has the skills and the players around him, so he just needs to play like he has all year (or at least as good as he good he did vs the Pats).

Defense .. Defense... Defense:
This game will come down to who can stop the other team. Both the Colts and the Saints have a high flying offense, but neither has a spectacular defense. Dwight Freeney is probably going to play, but wont be anywhere near 100%.

Heavy Hearts:
Both Pierre Garcon & Jonathan Vilma have roots from Haiti. So both will be emotional leaders in this game for their teams.

"Super" Sunday

by Jason Rossi 2. February 2009 13:36

If you are a Steelers fan you might be the only happy person walking around today.  We all love the hype of the Superbowl whether it’s about the game, the parties, the commercials, or the music we have some reason to be interested in it. Come the next day how happy are you about your Superbowl decisions?

I can’t speak for you but I will let you in on my experience. I held a party at my house I had a ton of people over to enjoy this event. I spend way too much money on food and drinks that we barely even touched. Also I ask everyone to bring something to eat and drink and needless to say before kickoff I already had a few burgers and pizza slices in me...( tum tum tum TUMS, saved my life).  By kickoff there was over 13 different drink choices, 9 types of chips you could eat, pigs in a blanket, pizza, mini burgers, and cake to be eaten. After the first half the place was a disaster (too much for my Swiffer to handle. This was a job for a mop and broom …baby come back… love that commercial). When all was said and done I spent too much, ate too much, and had no motivation to clean OOO and I have to work today. I am just assuming I am not alone here.

I say we name the day after Super Sunday here are my suggestions
Sober Monday
Sick Day Monday
Call Out Monday
Sleep Button Monday (that might be every Monday)
What the …. Monday

Event he commercials were just alright, here was one of my favorites

Now You See Me, Now You Don’t

by Jason Rossi 30. January 2009 12:15

Since the Pats aren’t in the Superbowl this year I guess we will keep a close eye on this year crop of commercials. Over the years the Superbowl has made memories that will last forever, made simple ideas into those of legend, and that is only during commercial breaks. Over the years some of the most famous Superbowl commercials come from Pepsi. Pepsi has used bears turning the YMCA into P E P S I, Britney Spears’s assets, and The Night at the Roxy head bob.

The latest trend is making a ridiculous commercial that will never make it onto the Superbowl broadcast. Instead making it for internet use and call it “banned” because it was too risky is some way. Here are some examples…

Man, why did I just buy a website? …..and for some reason I’m never eating meat again…. weird huh?

Go Cardinals

Are you ready to ROCK?

by Jason Rossi 29. January 2009 15:32

Bruce Springsteen will be performing during the Superbowl halftime show this Sunday.
Any guess on what 3 or 4 songs the Boss will play at halftime?

My guesses are
1.Working on A Dream (his new song)
2.Born To Run
3.Glory Days
I am guessing you won’t see something like this during his performance…

That is not the only music surrounding the Superbowl, Jennifer Hudson will be singing the National Anthem (I can see you running to set your DVR right now). Before we actually get to the big game tonight is the yearly Pepsi Smash concert featuring Rihanna, Fall Out Boy, and Lifehouse which airs  on VH1 starting at 8pm. So that’s all the music performances in a nutshell.

What if you could pick the acts that play all these events around the Superbowl? Who would you pick?

A Half Dressed Halftime or Give a Dog A Bone?

by Jason Rossi 23. January 2009 11:55

This weekend get that leftover shoveling out of the way, take your girlfriend to a movie and dinner, get the manroom ready because next Sunday is the Superbowl (just incase you didn’t know that already). This years halftime entertainment is ‘The Boss” Bruce Springsteen. What will you be watching during halftime?

In years past the usually 25-35 minute halftime break consisted of various entertainment from different sources.

Remember the Bud Bowl? While it was not always aired during halftime it was always seen in some point of a Bud Commercial. The Bud Bowl always mimics the Superbowl in score and how the game was decided.

Animal Planet ‘s Puppy Bowl? Really? Who is watching this? I don’t even think dog lovers could sit and watch this crap for more then 2 minutes, here you take a shot

Sadly there will be another during this years halftime.

WWE Wrestling. One year the WWE (WWF at the time) held an empty arena match during halftime of the Superbowl and the rating actually did well. This was when wrestling was at the height of its fame. This was the only time there was an event like this.

And last but not least is the Lingerie Bowl. What a genius idea get a bunch of models put them in “next to nothing” and have them play football. I have never actually watched this and I am assuming most people haven’t but everyone knows and has heard about it. Here is just a small preview of what you could be watching

So if you could watch any of these during this coming Superbowl halftime what would you choose? …please don’t say Puppy Bowl

Rock Quote of the Day

I really haven't had that exciting of a life. There are a lot of things I wish I would have done, instead of just sitting around and complaining about having a boring life. So I pretty much like to make it up. I'd rather tell a story about somebody else. - Kurt Cobain
