New Music Tuesday Vol 3

by Jason Rossi 30. June 2009 13:07

311- Its Alright: 311 must be taking some serious uppers, because they continue to give us upbeat friendly songs off “Uplifter”. This like “Hey You” is a great summer time track and as a positive theme. 311 has always had that laid back attitude but now they just have more of a smile on their faces. Just remember it’s all right wherever you are.

The Fray- Heartless: Yes Kanye West was covered by The Fray and the song is was turned from a hip hop crapshow to a singer song writer ballad. I don’t have much to ay about the song itself but the fact that you can hear three different versions of it… ooo yes 3 you have Kanye’s, the Fray’s, & your American Idol Kris Allen has one too.  It’s not like we are talking about one of the best songs of all time, we are listening to a mediocre song at best.
So here are all three versions let me know what you think

Good Economy, Bad Economy

by Jason Rossi 29. June 2009 15:36
Are we still in tough economic times? I thought we were but last week a few stores could have fooled me.
I’ll set the scene; Last Thursday evening I was @ the Pru, and I really wanted to see the new Boylston St Apple Store to purchase the new iPhone 3GS (I know I am a totally geek). As I was heading down the Pru corridor toward Boylston St I saw EB Games and my innergamer came out and I wanted to buy either Punch-Out for Wii or prepay for NCAA 10 for Xbox 360. As I was about step into the store the person behind the desk yelled at an employee near the entrance to stand in front of the store, and the employee turned to me and said “We’re Closed”. I replied “I am going to buy something” he goes “Sorry we are closed” I said “so you don’t want the purchase?” he shrugs and says “No” I walked out and headed to Apple.

I walk into this immaculate Apple Store … seriously this is what I imagine heaven to look like but with Abe Lincoln and Kurt Cobain instead of iPods and Computers. I talk to one of there nerdy (it takes one to know one) helpers and we talk about the new iPhone’s prices and updates. He has me dial some crazy 674$ number and wait for a text to see if I qualify for some discounts, & I do. I tell him I would like the 16 gig iPhone and he says ok, but the line just closed, so I say AGAIN “so you don’t want the purchase?” He replies “No”. I walk out very confused and what song is playing but Dave Matthews “Funny the Way It Is” fitting.

So in the end I kept nearly $400 bucks in my bank account but still shouldn’t these stores worry about revenue & not about what time the store closes?
So ARE we still in tough economic times EB and Apple?... are we?

Please note: I will probably heading back to both of these stores shortly, and spending more because I pretend I have a disposable income.

King of Pop

by Jason Rossi 26. June 2009 15:16

Michael Jackson passed away yesterday, and the first thing that came to mind was, well what else did have to do? I know that seems completely heartless, but honestly its not like the guy is going to clean up his image too much has happened.

Then around 1140ish last night I heard an interview with him. Michael was talking about how he would never have awards in his house (which he won plenty) because he always wanted to push himself further and awards will make you feel like you have achieved something.

That’s when I realized what an amazing singer and performer he was and it made me feel a strong loss as a music fan. Weird to think, but he was singing in the Jackson 5 when the Beatles ruled the world (what a history he has had). Michael Jackson might go down as the biggest Pop act of all time and as one of the biggest Pop Culture icons (for good or bad reason) of all time.

So love or hate him you must respect the body of work his has put out there. He still currently has the #2 selling album of all time.

Here is a funny version of the world famous Thriller Video (they took down the orginal)

Let’s Build an Ark

by Jason Rossi 24. June 2009 10:38

How cliché has it become to talk to that person around you about the weather?

You: Hey, how about that rain?
Person: Sucks
You: You’re telling me
Peron: Catch you later
You: Peace out homie

Ok so maybe you don’t use homie (because it want out of most peoples vocabulary in 1999) but still the point is the weather is terrible, and the people you talk to today already know that so be creative about bring it up in conversation. So I was thinking of making a list of the things I would want in pairs if there was an ark to escape the rain.
So instead of “O man the rain is bumming me out” start a real conversation. Ask “If you had to go aboard an ark to escape this world is ending weather what would you want pairs of? Alla the animals with that dude Noah from like a trillion years back”

So here is my list of things I would want in twos on my ark
Radios (duh)
Pizza
Nintendo Wii
Xbox 360 (a gamer needs multiple systems and two of them)
Megan Fox (well only if she was into me, I don’t want two of her and they both sit in the corner)
Computer
Superbad on DVD ( I fall asleep to it every night)
Poland Springs water (what it means to be from Maine)
54’ LCD TV

Ok now this is turning into a dull Facebook top 5 so that is my list in a nutshell. What would be on your list? Comment and let me know.
& here is the best song about rain… evah!

Rock Quote of the Day

I really haven't had that exciting of a life. There are a lot of things I wish I would have done, instead of just sitting around and complaining about having a boring life. So I pretty much like to make it up. I'd rather tell a story about somebody else. - Kurt Cobain
